The sun was shining early in the morning of Sunday November 20, 2016 with the promise of a very warm day. The riders were keen to get going as soon as possible to beat the heat and make it to lunch for a cold drink and a paddle in the Yarra.
This year saw a record number of riders, runners and walkers – over 80 in total. The catering crew were getting ready at Warburton to feed the hungry athletes as soon as they arrived.
There were lots of happy red faces and rosy cheeks as the participants descended the last hill down to the rotunda. People sought shade and water, and happily chatted with old friends and new. We had a number of children again this year – it’s great to see them doing some exercise and enjoying a day out with their families and friends.
With the record number of participants, and some very generous donations, we surpassed our yearly target and raised $5,116 for Alzheimer’s Australia Vic, taking our four-year total to just over $21K. We are honoured, humbled and grateful to everyone for their support.
Enjoy the photos and put it in your diary for next year – Sunday Nov 19th, 2017 – See you then!
